Early Pregnancy Class

This is a free, one evening class to help you have a healthy pregnancy. Important information includes fetal development, diet, exercise, warning signs, and comfort measures. The class includes a video and a question and answer time with a Family Birth Center Registered Nurse. Class meets bi-monthly from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Pre-Admission Visit

A one hour visit to help you plan for your admission, discuss your birth plan, and discharge needs. This is a special time just for you with a Family Birth Center Registered Nurse. A tour of the Birth Center will be included with the visit. Scheduled by appointment.

Preparation for Childbirth Class

This six (6) week series covers all aspects of your preparation for birth. It includes labor and delivery, relaxation and breathing techniques, pain management, diagnostic testing, cesarean birth, infant and postpartum care. The series is taught by our Family Birth Center RNs. Cost of the series is $50. Special arrangements for MSS families are available.

This class meets Monday or Tuesday evenings, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Childbirth Review Class

This one (1) or two (2) class series reviews labor and delivery, as well as relaxation and breathing patterns for those who have taken childbirth preparation classes with a previous birth. They are held from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. The cost for the class is $25. Scheduled by appointment.

V-Bac Class

A one-session class just for you, with a Family Birth Center Registered Nurse Educator to discuss common concerns and your options after having a Cesarean Section. Scheduled by appointment.

Infant/Child CPR Class

This bi-monthly class will help you know what to do if your infant or child should choke or stop breathing. It is taught by an AHA certified instructor. Free to all Family Birth Center clients; $10 fee for all others. Grandparents welcome. Held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Breastfeeding Class

This class is for every woman desiring to breastfeed and for the new breastfeeding mother. Come and find the information and help you need to nurse your baby successfully. This class is taught by our Gerber Memorial Hospital Lactation Specialist and offered bi-monthly. Cost is $10, or free to Family Birth Center clients. Held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Sibling Class

This class is designed just for kids about to become big brothers or sisters! Kids ages 3-10 years old will learn much about their new role and how to help care for the new baby. Taught by an OB nurse at the Gerber Family Birth Center, there is a fee of $10 per family. To help you better fit the class into your busy schedules, it is scheduled by appointment.
