The GMHS Pharmacy Department is committed to providing optimal pharmaceutical patient care through the safe, effective, rational, ethical and cost effective use of medications within the institution.
We provide the following services:
- Computerized order entry
- 24-hour unit-dose drug distribution system
- IV admixture service for medical and surgical floors
- Patient Controlled Analgesia Service
- Preparation of chemotherapy medications for the Oncology Outpatient Clinic
- Continuing education for hospital staff members

TelePharmacy
TelePharmacy allows GMHS to have 24/7 pharmacy coverage and overview of medication orders. During the hours the inpatient Pharmacy is closed, off-site pharmacists will be available by phone to answer questions, be a reference, and troubleshoot medication needs.
Pharmacy orders fax will be auto-forwarded to the telepharmacist on duty. Orders will be entered into the Pharmacy system to allow medication removal from Pyxis. Pyxis capacity will be increased to allow for more medication availability on each nursing unit, beginning Spring/Summer 2009.
