Patient Success Stories

Hesperia High senior and wrestling champion, Collin Zeerip shares his experience with Sports Rehab at Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial.

Going to Occupational therapy for twelve weeks helped me immensely. When I first started out I didn’t even have full range of motion. By the end of therapy I almost had complete range of motion and a lot more strength.

I worked on gaining range first and my strength second. Little by little my elbows improved and I knew it would take some time. I hurt them in a wrestling match about a quarter of the way through the session. I was in a lot of pain and my elbows felt weak. I knew that I had to do something about my strength and my range of motion in order to maintain my success on the mat.

Towards the end of therapy I definitely felt like I was getting stronger and I could feel the results. Going into the state finals my number one priority was winning my third state title and the ninth for my family. I wanted to be dominant but I felt a win was a wine and I had to take my elbows into consideration. In my state finals match my elbows didn’t hurt or bother me. I felt like they were strong.

My decision to continue therapy for that amount of time paid off. I ended my career on top and I couldn’t be happier with my performance. I attribute some of success to my occupational therapy sessions and therapists Julie Chilson and Edmond Anthony at Tamarac.
